Description: ADHD is frequently referred to as a biologically-based disorder,yet it is clear that various environmental factors influence how the disorder is expressed. Dr. Schweitzer will review how cue types and rewards can affect cognitive functioning, exploration, hyperactivity, and self control in children and adults with ADHD. Also discussed will be how environmental context interactions with brain functioning to produce problematic behavior, but can also be used to improve behavior in home and school settings.

Title: National Down Syndrome Congress Sacramento Convention

Description: The annual NDSC national convention offers world class information, support, and education for individuals with Down syndrome, their families, and professionals. It brings together approximately 2,000 affected by Down syndrome from around the globe. Presenters provide expertise in education, therapeutic interventions, medical care, social/emotional issues, and more. There is a Spanish track, and translations for other languages is available upon request. Title: Parenting Children with Health Issues

Description: Class presented by Dr. Foster Cline, child psychiatrist and co-founder of the Love and Logic Institute and Lisa Greene, co-author of \’Parenting Children with Health Issues\’. They will address handling refusals to take medication, strategies for preventing arguments and avoiding power struggles, promoting responsibility without nagging or lecturing and enabling children to make good self care decisions. Class is open to parents, caregivers, and clinicians working with children with chronic health issues.
